All 6 Ex-Officers of The Mississippi “Goon Squad” Have Been Sentenced for the Torture of Two Black Men

MISSISSIPPI— All 6 of the ex-police officers who were part of Mississippi’s ‘Goon Squad’ have been sentenced to prison for the 2023 torture of two Black men in Rankin County, Mississippi.

After receiving a racially motivated complaint about two Black men living with a white woman, the former deputies broke into the home in question, without a warrant, and physically, sexually, and verbally tortured Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker— eventually shooting Jenkins in the face and breaking his jaw. The two victims were shocked with stun guns and brutalized with a sex toy, all while having milk and other foods poured on them and racial slurs yelled at them.

The former officers concocted a complex plan to cover their violence up, planting drugs on the victims before they left.

The ex-cops, Brett McAlpin, Joshua Hartfield, Christian Dedmon, Hunter Elward, Jeffrey Middleton and Daniel Opdyke, received prison sentences ranging from 10 years to 40 years for their roles in the brutality.
