Is Stillwater, MN Ready To Confront Its Own Racism?
Since the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department, Minneapolis, MN has been the epicenter of a worldwide movement towards racial justice. As we see the continual protests and rallies in the streets of Minneapolis, how are surrounding suburban cities responding to the overt expression of white supremacy and systemic violence brought upon black bodies? Here, we discuss the connotations of being a person of color in Stillwater, MN, as the town has recently seen white men donning "Aryan Cowboys" on their clothing in public. Although white supremacy may look as overt as that, can it also look like white silence as well in the wake of a black man murdered by police in the same state?
