Newark Mayor Ras Baraka Arrested at ICE Protest After Being Denied Entry to Detention Facility

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who is also a New Jersey gubernatorial candidate, was arrested on Friday during an ICE protest. He was denied entry to a detention facility. Baraka and several U.S. Representatives, including LaMonica McIver (D-10th), Rob Menendez (D-8th) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12th), attempted to gain access to the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey for oversight purposes. The representatives were given permission to enter the facility, while the mayor was not. Afterwards, Mayor Baraka was apprehended and arrested.
